Liver Transplant

Liver Transplantation is a surgery carried out when a diseased liver needs to be replaced with a healthy one. Maximum patients who undergo liver transplantation lead a normal life.

Cirrhosis can be caused by viruses such as Hepatitis B and C, excessive consumption of alcohol, autoimmune liver diseases, build-up of fat in the liver, and hereditary liver diseases. Liver transplantation is the universal standard of care for end-stage liver disease & also for certain types of liver cancer as well as acute liver failure. A donated liver could be a living donor liver (only a part is taken), or from a deceased donor (whole organ or split between more than one patient).
